Terms of use

Sushiroll helps adults find people nearby to play tabletop games with. Be kind, be yourself, and meet safely. We don't tolerate abuse or objectionable content: we remove it, and the accounts behind it. If something goes wrong, report it in the app and a person looks at it.

These terms are an agreement between you and us. They sit alongside Apple's standard licence for apps from the App Store, and our privacy policy, which explains what we do with your information. Apple is not responsible for Sushiroll or for these terms.

You must be 18 or over, and the date of birth you give must be your own. One person, one account. Your name, photos and age must be yours: no pretending to be someone else.

You're responsible for your account and for what's done with it. If you think someone else has got into it, tell us.

Everyone agrees to these when they join:

1. Be kind, at the table and in the chat. No harassment, threats, hate or bullying, ever.
2. Keep it clean. No sexual content, and nothing you wouldn't say to someone's face.
3. Be yourself. Your own name, photos and age. You need to be 18 or over.
4. Meet safely. Pick public places, tell a friend, and report anyone who makes you feel unsafe.
5. No spam or selling. Sushiroll is for playing games together.

And never anything illegal: including terrorist content, child sexual abuse or exploitation, sharing intimate images of someone without consent, stalking, fraud, or selling drugs or weapons.

Reporting. Every profile, message, event and group has a report option. When you report something we keep a copy of it, and a few messages either side, taken at that moment, so it can be dealt with even if it is deleted. The person you report is never told who reported them.

How fast. A person reviews every report. We aim to look within 24 hours, and straight away when someone may be unsafe. Content that is illegal, including terrorist content, child sexual abuse material, and intimate images shared without consent, is removed as soon as we know about it, and the account behind it is banned. Where the law requires it, we report it to the authorities.

Our word filter. We use automatic technology in one place: a word filter that stops a short list of slurs and explicit words from being posted anywhere, including disguised spellings. Swearing is allowed in chats between adults; in public places, like a bio or a group's description, it is saved and passed to a person to check. The filter judges words, never people, and a person makes every decision about an account.

Blocking. Block anyone you don't want to hear from. They can't see your profile or message you, and you'll be told if you end up in the same group or event.

Chats are text only, so nobody can send you an image in a chat.

Depending on how serious it is, we may remove the content, send you a warning, suspend your account for a period, or close it for good. We do this when content or behaviour breaks these terms or the law, when someone is put at risk, or when an account is fake. We won't act on a whim or over something trivial.

We normally tell you what we did and why. If someone is at risk we may act first and tell you afterwards.

Email hello@sushiroll.games if you want to complain about content, about something we did or didn't do, or about how we're meeting our safety duties.

If we removed something of yours, warned you, or suspended or closed your account and you think we got it wrong, reply to our message or email us within 30 days saying why. A person who looks at it afresh will reply, normally within 7 days. If we got it wrong we'll put it right, including restoring your account.

Sushiroll introduces you to people you don't know. We don't do background or identity checks, and we can't see what happens when you meet. Please look after yourself: meet somewhere public, tell a friend where you're going, don't share your home address until you're ready, and leave if anything feels wrong. Report anyone who makes you feel unsafe, and if you're in danger call 999.

You're responsible for how you behave with other people. Nothing here limits our responsibility where the law doesn't allow it to be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

What you post stays yours. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people you share it with, only so that we can run Sushiroll. That permission ends when you delete it or your account, except for messages you've already sent, which stay in the conversation without your name, and reports, which we keep as our privacy policy explains.

Only post what you have the right to post: your own photos, and nothing that breaks someone else's rights.

You can stop using Sushiroll and delete your account at any time from Settings.

We may change these terms when the law changes, when we need to keep people safe, or when we change what Sushiroll does. We'll tell you in the app before a change that matters takes effect, and if you don't agree you can delete your account. Sushiroll is free today; if we add paid features, their terms will be shown before you pay.

We work hard to keep Sushiroll running and safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. We're not responsible for losses we couldn't reasonably have foreseen, or for what other people do, except where the law says we must be. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring a claim in your own courts, and you keep the protections of your local law.
